The Revenant is a 2015 American frontier revenge film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Written by Iñárritu and Mark L. Smith, based in part on Michael Punke's The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge, the film is inspired by the experiences of frontiersman and fur trapper Hugh Glass in 1823 Montana and South Dakota. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Glass and co-stars Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Will Poulter.
Movie Review:
The Revenant is one of the most gorgeous films you will ever see. Leonardo Dicaprio deserves his first Oscar for his incredibly dedicated performance, easily the best of his career and Tom Hardy gives an Oscar worthy performance for his role as the haunting beast John Fitzgerald. The first act of the film was definitely the most impressive. With stunning visuals and flawlessly crafted intense action scenes, I felt like I was watching real footage from the 1820's! Then the vast snowy wilderness kicked in, the majority of the time it was breathtaking. But at times The Revenant got a little lost in the wilderness and sometimes felt a bit repetitive, it's still an unpredictable and suspenseful adventure with many surprises. It's no doubt one of the years best films.
